Game days at Oklahoma State University are filled with tradition, excitement, and Cowboy pride — and for feature twirlers Callan Hall and Jaidyn Poole, there’s nothing quite like representing OSU with a baton in hand. These two sophomores light up Boone Pickens Stadium every weekend, bringing energy, passion, and poise to every performance as part of the Cowboy Marching Band.

Meet the Twirlers

Callan Hall – Sophomore from Salina, Kansas

Jaidyn Poole – Sophomore from Katy, Texas

Callan has been twirling for 15 years with Shannon’s Stars, a team she joined when she was just four years old. Jaidyn has spent the past 11 years twirling with Mickey’s Majorettes in The Woodlands, Texas. Now, both are in their second season twirling for Oklahoma State University — living their dream and inspiring fans across campus.

Game Day Traditions: A Cowboy Classic

For Callan and Jaidyn, OSU game days are full of unique traditions that make the experience unforgettable. Their day kicks off with a pep rally performance at the famous Eskimo Joe’s restaurant — a fan-favorite stop in Stillwater. From there, they join “The Walk,” performing with the drumline and leading the football team, coaches, and spirit squads to Boone Pickens Stadium through a parade of cheering fans.

Cheerleaders in white outfits dance with batons, surrounded by a crowd. Orange accents and OSU logos are visible in a sunny outdoor setting.

Before kickoff, the Cowboy Marching Band performs a pregame concert, giving fans a taste of what’s to come at halftime. Then it’s time for pregame — leading the run-on, cheering from the stands, performing at halftime, and even visiting fans during the third quarter before returning just in time to sing “Friends in Low Places” with the entire stadium. The day wraps up with the alma mater and a post-game concert — a perfect ending to a perfect game day.

Favorite Game Day Moments

For Callan, homecoming weekend stands out as her favorite time of the year. “We have America’s Greatest Homecoming, and it creates such an amazing game week and game day environment,” she said. Jaidyn agrees — her most memorable experience was her very first homecoming, when she got to experience that unmatched OSU spirit for the first time.

What They Love About OSU Twirling

For both Callan and Jaidyn, twirling at Oklahoma State is about more than just performing — it’s about pride, community, and connection.

Callan says, “I’ve always dreamed of twirling at the collegiate level, and it’s so rewarding living that dream every day. I also love taking pictures with little girls on game day — I used to look up to the college twirlers just like that!”

Jaidyn adds, “Being an ambassador for my university is what I enjoy most. You meet so many amazing people along the way.”

Preparing for Game Day

The OSU twirlers are dedicated athletes who prepare with consistent practices — every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:45–5:45 p.m., plus stadium rehearsals the morning of home games. When it comes to fueling up, Callan starts her day with a big protein breakfast and plenty of water, while Jaidyn swears by a Starbucks refresher or an Alani before performances. And during the second quarter, their coach, Aly, brings Skittles and Reese’s for a fun, sugary boost before halftime!

Words of Wisdom for Future College Twirlers

Callan and Jaidyn have plenty of advice for anyone dreaming of twirling at the collegiate level:

Callan says, “Never give up on your dream, no matter how many no’s you get. Time flies, so enjoy every second! Always handle every situation with grace and be that role model for the little ones watching.”

Jaidyn shares, “Trust the process and remember you’re so much more than a baton twirler — you’re an ambassador for your university.”

For both Callan and Jaidyn, twirling at Oklahoma State has been a dream come true. Jaidyn describes it as “the most amazing opportunity,” where every game day is the highlight of her week. Callan sums it up best: “You are so much more than just a baton twirler — you are part of something bigger than yourself. It’s important to give back, connect with fans, and share your love for your school every time you take the field.”

From fiery batons to heartfelt smiles, Callan and Jaidyn embody the true spirit of Oklahoma State University — proud, passionate, and forever Cowboys.
