At 10 years old, Charlotte Viola Willis already has plenty of big goals, both inside and outside the twirling world.

The Taneytown, Maryland, twirler started the sport at just three years old after watching her older sister, Gena. Today, she loves 2-Baton, looks up to strong athletes and can officially add Juvenile Miss Majorette of America to her list of accomplishments!

We caught up with Charlotte to learn more about her twirling journey, what makes her laugh and the big plans she already has for her future.

Following in Her Sister's Footsteps

Charlotte's introduction to baton twirling started with her older sister, Gena.

After watching Gena learn more about twirling through YouTube videos, three-year-old Charlotte was ready to give it a try herself.

Seven years later, she's developed her own favorite parts of the sport. At the top of the list is 2-Baton, which easily wins when Charlotte is asked to choose between 2-Baton and strut.

She's also learned that every twirler needs a few competition essentials. Charlotte's baton bag must-have is a little unexpected: dryer sheets!

A Competition Day With Charlotte

Before Charlotte steps onto the competition floor, she takes a moment to pray.

But her prayer isn't only about her own performance.

Charlotte prays that every twirler will do their best and that no EMS will need to be called for any reason.

Fair enough!

Her dream twirling routine would be performed to Worth by Anthony Brown, and when it comes to athletes she looks up to, Charlotte points to Emma Brock.

Charlotte says Emma has taught her the importance of building strength throughout your entire body and how that strength can help you perform excellent routines.

"OMGoodness, I Really Did It!" đź‘‘

All of Charlotte's work led to a moment she'll always remember.

When her name was announced as Miss Majorette of America, it was a rush of emotions.

Charlotte remembers thinking one thing: "OMGoodness, I really did it!"

Yes, she did!

Getting to Know Charlotte

There's plenty more to Charlotte than what we see on the competition floor.

When she's not twirling, she loves spending time with her siblings. They play board games together, and Charlotte especially loves being outside riding her bike and hoverboard. She's also a reader and will pick playing outside over staying inside any day.

One fact many people in the twirling world probably don't know? Charlotte spent the first three years of her life living in North Yorkshire, England!

She also loves candied yams, Moana, dogs and the beach. After a long day, one of her favorite places is simply curled up in her

parents' bed with them. đź’•

Charlotte also enjoys doing interviews in the twirling world because they give her a chance to share something people might not already know and, hopefully, make someone laugh along the way.

Big Dreams Ahead

Charlotte is only 10, but when you ask what she wants to be when she grows up, she already has some very specific ideas.

She wants to practice medicine and is considering becoming a neurosurgeon, anesthesiologist or pediatrician.

Those are some pretty big dreams, but Charlotte clearly isn't afraid of those.

From following her big sister into baton twirling at three years old to earning the title of Juvenile Miss Majorette of America, Charlotte is building a story that's all her own.

Congratulations, Charlotte Willis! 👑✨

We hope this year brings plenty of great memories, new adventures and lots of opportunities to keep doing what she loves.
