You’ve Been Clipped! Spreading Kindness One Baton Competition at a Time💖

Hi Only Twirlers Fam!

My name is Gabi Lang, and I twirl with the Twirl Legacy Team at Natalie’s School of Champions based out of Saxonburg,

Pennsylvania and I am one of the Social Squad Members! With competition season getting back in full swing, I wanted to talk about one of my favorite little traditions in the twirling world: Clipping! While many of us have participated in clipping at

competitions, I want to spread awareness about this fun tradition and encourage even more twirlers to join in this season!

🩷So, what exactly is clipping?

Clipping is a fun way to spread kindness throughout the competition community by decorating clothespins and giving them to other twirlers! You can decorate them with glitter, rhinestones, stickers, paint, team colors, or anything else that shows off your personality. Some clips have cute designs, while others have encouraging messages written right on them. At competitions, twirlers can secretly clip them onto someone’s bag, jacket, or other belongings as a little surprise to brighten their day. You don’t even have to know the person you’re clipping! That’s part of what makes this tradition so special.

🩷Need some ideas for your competition clips?

The best part about clipping is that there are no rules when it comes to being creative! You can make sparkly clips covered in rhinestones, design them around your studio colors, or add little batons, stars, hearts, and smiley faces. You could even make holiday-themed clips or create a different design for every competition you attend!

Another fun idea is to write little messages on your clips. Try phrases like “You’ve got this!”, “Go sparkle!”, “Good luck today!”, “You are amazing!”, or even a funny twirling message like “Drop the nerves, not the baton!” You could also write a compliment or a reminder that someone’s hard work is paying off. Sometimes, a few simple words can mean so much to someone, especially on a competition day when nerves are high.

✨Let’s make clipping bigger this competition season!✨

One of my favorite things about clipping is that it brings twirlers together, even when we’re competing against one another. We spend so much time practicing our routines, working toward our goals, and focusing on our own performances that it’s easy to forget how important it is to support the people around us, too. Clipping gives us a way to celebrate each other outside of the competition results.

This season, I challenge you to make a few extra clips and bring them to your next competition! Try clipping someone from a different studio, a younger twirler, someone competing for the first time, or even someone whose performance inspired you. You never know who might need a little encouragement that day. And don’t forget to share your clip designs with your teammates and friends to encourage them to participate, too!

I’d also love to see the clipping tradition continue to grow through the Only Twirlers community! Share your creative designs, spread the word at your studio, and encourage other twirlers to join in. The more people who participate, the more opportunities we have to make competitions a little more positive and welcoming for everyone.

As we head into another exciting competition season, let’s remember that baton twirling is about so much more than scores, placements, and perfect routines. It’s about the friendships we make, the people who inspire us, and the community that supports us along the way. Clipping is such a simple but meaningful way to spread kindness, and I hope even more twirlers will participate this season! Whether you make the sparkliest clip in the building, write a heartfelt message, or give a clip to someone you’ve never met, you have the opportunity to make someone’s day a little brighter.

So grab your clothespins, get creative, and start clipping! And if someone clips you, consider passing that kindness along at your next competition. Let’s make this season one filled with amazing performances, unforgettable memories, new friendships, and lots of clips! Remember, a little clip can go a long way. 💗

Tag Only Twirlers social media in the clips you make this season! We can’t wait to see your creativity😊

Happy Twirling (and clip making!)💖
